Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, formerly known as Bhagalpur University, was founded on 12 July 1960 and renamed in 1991 in honor of the tribal freedom fighter Tilka Majhi. Located in Bhagalpur, Bihar, TMBU spans approximately 264 acres, houses 36 academic departments, multiple faculties including Science, Humanities, Commerce, Management Studies, Law, and Education, and offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and Ph.D. programs.
